What can the participants expect during Academy Week?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Academy Week 2026 will take place from 7th to 12th September in Freiburg. Both, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra’s baroque course and the Ensemble Recherche’s contemporary course includes a chamber music course. The Academy-Week offers two tracks of study: ensemble performance of baroque to classical chamber music and ensemble performance of contemporary music. All participants are invited to attend both classes offered by Freiburger Barockorchester\u00a0as well as Ensemble Recherche, although you are just as welcome to register for only one of the two courses. In both cases a participation fee of \u20ac350 applies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both tracks offer a minimum of two individual lessons \u00e0 45 min, rehearsals in chamber music, as well as joint workshops for all participants. At the end of the week, participants will get the chance to present the results of their work in a public performance. Chamber music groups will be created with participating students, and the repertoire will be chosen by the tutors. The musical results will be presented to the public in a final concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prerequisite here is experience in making music on a historical instrument (concert pitch 415 Hz). You must bring your own historical instrument (harpsichords are provided).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you already have your own chamber music group, you can also apply as an ensemble. If you are applying as an ensemble, please submit your intended repertoire with your application. If you do not have a chosen repertoire, please inform us so that we can suggest repertoire for your ensemble to work on during the academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who are we trying to reach with Academy-Week?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are looking for advanced music students as well as professional musicians who are interested in ensemble performance and would like to spend a week of intensive study of music, from baroque to classical and\/or contemporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active participation: \u20ac350<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active Participation as an ensemble: \u20ac300 p.P.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passive Participation: \u20ac200<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A registration fee of \u20ac100 will be charged as a deposit upon registration. This will be retained in the event of cancellation after the application deadline. If the application is rejected, the deposit will be transferred back immediately after the selection process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the limited number of places, participants will be chosen for active participation based on artistic ability. Please hand in your application by June 15, 2026. You can register online via Muvac. If you’d like to apply with an instrument that isn’t listed in Muvac, please contact us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A video recording documenting your skills is expected with your application. You are free to choose the piece, but it should be either contemporary music (Ensemble Recherche course) or baroque music on a historical instrument (Freiburg Baroque Orchestra course). Please upload at least one video from each period if you are applying for both course specialisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
